Raster images, also known as bitmaps, consist of square pixels (dots) and when scaled up they significantly lose their quality causing images to look either blurry or even sometimes unrecognizable and distorted. The mostly used raster file formats are JPG, BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG, RAW, etc. Below you can see a sample of resized jpeg image:

Vector images are known for their high quality features and never decreasing quality despite the size of the artwork. The widely used vector file formats are AI, CDR, EPS, SVG, PDF, SWF, DXF, etc.

Vector images are often used in various printing or digital platforms to give precise and high resolution quality for the visuals. The common areas of use are large- and small-format digital printing, sign printing, vinyl cutting, posters printing, billboards printing, t-shirt printing, laser engraving, embroideries, flash animation, etc.

Vectorization is the process of converting raster (bitmap) images into high quality vectors. Please click here to see the video. Some people use the word "tracing" to express the process of vectorization. To be more specific, tracing means the outlining of the shapes and objects in the image for the purpose of vectorization.

Prior to establishing the online vector service we had worked in the field of vectorization and graphic design for many years. This gave us the opportunity to enrich our font database with thousands of unique and modern fonts. We use them and other special techniques to identify the font in the artwork. If the text in the submitted image for vectorizing is a hand drawn letters, we offer two options for conversion: first exact tracing of the letter shapes as they appear in the image, second, finding the closest looking font used in the artwork. It is also possible to write the text in a different font, all you need to do is to specify which font you prefer to be used in the image.

We convert different types of images to vector, starting from simple logos to complex photographs. We accept orders in most file formats: jpgs, pngs, tiffs, psds, pdfs, etc. We also have professional AutoCad specialists in the team and can vectorize complex blueprints, schemes, and floorplans using metric system.

If your picture for vectorization exceeds 10 mbs, feel free to use any of cloud storage options (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.). You can also use WeTransfer and send us the image(s) to [email protected]. No matter how you submit the files for quote request, please always mention your instructions and expectation for vectorizing.
